Fly Fishing
Hawke's Bay is considered one of the undiscovered gems of New Zealand fly fishing. However, more and more anglers are realising the great experiences to be had here and the area is gaining a strong reputation with both serious and recreational fishermen.
In fact, Hawke's Bay rivals the best in New Zealand fly fishing, with an extensive network of rivers and streams offering a large variety of waters in which to fish for rainbow and brown trout. There are five primary local rivers: Mohaka, Ngaruroro, Tuki Tuki, Tutaekuri and Ruakaturi, plus their tributary streams.
From the more sedate waters of the Tuki Tuki to the rugged wilderness of the Mohaka, there is an experience to suit every fishing enthusiast. Hawke's Bay offers the full range of angling - from spinning through to nymph, lure or dry fly fishing.
Cape South works with professional local fishing guides Marlene and Craig Skeet and their specialist company One Cast Fly Fishing Adventures.
They know everything there is to know about fishing in this region and will be happy to assist with your arrangements - anything from a full or half day excursion through to a fully tailored multi-day itinerary. Helicopter access to the most remote Hawke's Bay back-country rivers can also be arranged for the ultimate fishing experience.
They will also be happy to arrange fishing licenses and equipment if necessary.
